PxTools Workbench projects, 2D stratigraphic diagrams and 3D fences
The PxTools Workbench keeps wells of interest together with private tags and notes. A carefully sorted, tagged selection is the quickest handoff to the multi-well visualization tools.
Save your research trail and build your project
- Projects and Pinned: add useful wells from search results or Wellcards. Pinned is a real project that can be tagged; History is a recent-view list and cannot be tagged.
- Private tags and notes: mark a transect, prospect, client area or review state without changing the Library record. Tags are especially useful for refining a project into small sets for tools that require a focused number of wells, such as FENCE · 3D draw.
- Tables, maps and exports: move from the same project to CSV and geology/production tables, a map or KML, analytics, cross-sections and the 3D fence. Members with the Subsurface Geology data add-on have greater geology export privileges from both PxTools Workbench projects and Wellcards.
- Turn a result into a project: after a search or map session identifies wells of interest, save that set in a project so you can return to the same wells, tags and notes without recreating the query.
Build a diagram from tagged wells
- Collect the wells. From Wellcards, results or the Well Map, add wells to a named project or Pinned. The Well Map preview balloon now shows geology, helping you select wells with the formation picks you want to include in a diagram. Projects can hold a much larger working set than a diagram needs.
- Create and apply a private tag. Use a short purpose such as east-west section, fence A or review set.
- Set the project order before selecting. The handoff follows the current visible table order, not checkbox-click order. Sort by Location, Township/Lot/Concession, another geographic field, or curate the List order to match the transect.
- Recall the subset. Filter the project by Tag or use Select wells by tag. Review the rows, then use individual checkboxes or First 10. Both diagram buttons accept at most 10 wells from the PxTools Workbench.
- Choose Visualize. Click XSEC · 2D draw for a basic stratigraphic stick/correlation diagram or FENCE · 3D draw for the interactive borehole fence.
- Refine and share. Adjust the diagram's source and display controls, then use its print, share or export options as appropriate.
Your selection
If any rows are selected, the PxTools Workbench sends those wells. If none are selected, it tries to use the current project/list; if the list is over the tool limit, it prompts and uses only the allowed first wells. An explicit, reviewed selection is safer.
Focused stratigraphic diagrams
The 2D tool draws well sticks and connects available formation elevations. It uses the supplied list order and gives wells equal horizontal spacing—it is a quick correlation view, not a distance-scaled section.
- FORM 7 picks are the default; MNR picks can also be selected.
- Choose a geographic or curated project order before the handoff.
- Use a short transect; a crowded list is harder to read even below the 10-well limit.
- Missing picks remain missing; the line only reflects available indexed elevations.
Explore structure and spacing in three dimensions
Choose MNR or FORM 7 geology, change azimuth and vertical exaggeration, and move wells between a straight fence and their actual collar positions. Orbit around a fixed target or use fly mode.
- Toggle surfaces, formation top lines, labels, fence wells, projection guides, ground grid, mini-map and actual collars.
- Create a shareable link or export floating KML with fence panels, boreholes and labels for Google Earth. Multiple fences can be combined and related in the same Google Earth project when they use a common datum.
- Picks without elevation are ignored; Top of Bedrock is excluded; missing picks do not create an invented connection.
The standalone 3D Fence accepts up to five wells for visitors and up to 24 for members. The PxTools Workbench project ribbon deliberately hands off no more than 10, matching the compact selected-set workflow shared with XSEC.
